our cattle
Welcome to Coo & Company LLC.
Nestled in the hills of rural Southwestern Pennsylvania, we are a family owned business stemmed from a love for our small herd of Scottish Highland Cattle (aka "Coos" as the Scottish like to call them).
Scottish Highland Cattle
Highland cattle originated in the Scottish Highlands and the Western Islands of Scotland where they lived for centuries in the rugged terrain.
They are hardy, intelligent, and naturally disease resistant. They are known for their shaggy coats and long horns, however their long hair isn't just for looks. Their double layered coats helped them thrive the cold temperatures and harsh weather conditions of the Scottish Highlands.
The double layer of hair replaces fat cover that other breeds of cattle carry in order to stay warm in cold environments. This results in meat that is lean, well marbled and full of flavor, with little outside waste fat.
Their superior intelligence and docile disposition makes them easy to halter break and train. Although primarily a beef breed, they can also be used for draft and milk. Their long hair can even be used for fiber. It's not a wonder that they are referred to as "The Grande Old Breed."
Here at Coo & Company LLC we believe that Highland Cattle are so much more than just a passing trend. We love the versatility and heritage of the breed. Whether it be for beef, show, or just a family pet, our focus is to produce top quality AHCA and HHCA registered livestock with conformation being at the forefront of our breeding program.
Follow our farm's Facebook page for future updates on our "Coos" and animals we have available to purchase.

About our name
Coo and Company LLC originated from the term "Heilan' Coo" or simply "Coo" which is what Highland cows are known as in Scotland.
You may have noticed our Scripture reference at the bottom of our logo.
"Psalms 50:10" which reads:
"For every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills."
We believe that all good things are given by God for man's benefit and His glory. We consider it a privilege to be stewards of the land and caretakers of these beautiful animals.
